I tried to explain what it was like to my kids. I was 7 at the time, but I remember it vividly. the whole family together at my grand parents house sitting around the TV. What I remember is how everyone looked as they saw Neil Armstrong take that first step...a mixture of awe and pride at what we as a nation had accomplished.You don't see that too often these days. We need more of that.
Gone but not forgotten... I remember seeing it as an 8 year boy on the B&W TV. Quality was bad, but it was quite something... even in Holland... "we were at the moon"... now we barely make it in space... weird
